Forgot to mention at meeting, Artsvest application is in, it’s mostly accurate. i dont think i got the budget quite right, but it’s representative. If we qualify it would mean up to $5000 in matching funding for anything we successfully apply for over the next year. Ann Marshall, Ann MacIvor, Jill Mayne and George Bowden would each do a small part of the work, which if what they say is correct only amounts to about 10 hours of programming time over the next 6 months.
Meeting march 13, 2017
Scout Hall
Attending: Colleen Clancy, Ann Marshall, Barry Bruyere, Ann MacIvor
Updates on Canada 150.
Barry met with music committee:
-a secondary stage at corner of market area is going to put up for buskers, poets etc.
-3-11 pm Barry will be in charge of musical activities, mostly featuring mystic groove with guests (local musicians joining in to do a few of their pieces with the group.
– Jason Titian is up for doing a demo artist thing
– Budget for music – Barry requested 1500 from art rave funds, but doesn’t know the actual figure of what is apportioned.
-Barry has brought up idea of sponsorship at the TD, he is pursuing, also thought it would be good to have people go approach other local businesses, would need volunteers for that.
Ann Marshall attended meeting with overall planning committees:
Roll out of Canada Day as follows (thus far):
9:30 am – barricades go up limited driving access.

Run starts and finishes at train station, but some talk of moving the finish line into the quay. Finish times will vary between 11 and 1.
11:00 – 3:00 Folkfest Stage Activities and food vendors.
11:30 “Big Start” all activities that are happening at the Quay get going.
11:40 – 12:00 ish the parade rolls in, just a few of the parade groups come down to quay to attend flag raising.
12:15 Flag Raising and singing of O Canada and cake cutting.
2:00 ish – Kite For Kids – wind dependant start time – kiteboarding demos on pier
3:00-11:00 ART RAVE Music Activities
Evening – spaghetti dinner around trainstation for triconic participants and public
10:00 approx – boat horn oh canada
10:15 approx –fireworks
At the site all day there are the kids games being done by parks and rec, and the activities provided by art rave, arts and craft vendors, etc. HMCS Edmonton will be in town for the event, so there will be some activities around that, but as yet unknown. Lots of jawing about syncing parade and triconic and those logistics. I let them know what we were planning, lanterns, kids activities, plein air etc., and offered to liase only with the vendor planning, to keep them apprised of plien air participants and demo artists etc.
IMPORTANT: Theresa is stressing the importance of clear standardized formats for promotions, would like each group involved to have one person who will meet to get standard formats (colour font sponsor logo sizing etc) for the overall event. Ann MacIvor volunteered for this.
Lantern Updates From Colleen Clancy:
She had found a source for lantern paper, will cost 270 plus shipping. Members present approved. Approval requested and given by email response from board members.
Will talk about honorariums for artists at next meeting.
